Aucilla Christian Academy proudly celebrates the remarkable achievements of three former students, Elizabeth Hightower, Megan Schofill, and Kelly Horne, who continue to excel in their respective sports on a national level.
Elizabeth Hightower, a five-year letter winner at Florida, has made her mark in the world of softball. Recently, she debuted in Athletes Unlimited (AU) X Softball, an announcement that came with excitement and anticipation. During her time at Florida, Elizabeth was an undeniable force, making 136 appearances from 2019 to 2023, including 100 starts. She compiled an impressive 57-29 record with a 2.46 earned run average and 427 strikeouts over 561.0 innings12.
Kelly Horne, another gifted alumna, turned in one of the best seasons in her program’s history in 2022. A key player for Troy, Kelly led the team in multiple categories, including batting average (.353), home runs (14), RBIs (28), slugging percentage (.729), on-base percentage (.530), and walks (44). Notably, she broke her own school record for on-base percentage. In the Sun Belt, Kelly ranked in the top ten in several categories, including batting average, OPS, runs scored, home runs, on-base percentage, total bases, and slugging percentage. She finished the season with 10 multi-hit games and six multi-RBI games, drawing multiple walks in 13 different games, and even went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBIs against App State.
Megan Schofill, a talented golfer, represented Auburn with distinction at the 2023 Arnold Palmer Cup. Megan contributed to three match victories, helping Team USA clinch a win against Team International with a score of 32-28. Schofill’s selection to Team USA marked the fourth Arnold Palmer Cup selection by an Auburn golfer in program history. Throughout the tournament, Megan demonstrated her prowess, contributing to victories in multiple formats and recording several birdies3.
These exceptional achievements by Elizabeth, Kelly, and Megan are a testament to their determination, skill, and the values instilled during their time at Aucilla Christian Academy.
