Last week, Aucilla Christian Academy was proud to officially rename our baseball field, previously known as Finlayson Field, to Hughes-Finlayson Field. This change honors the incredible impact and commitment of both Coach Ray Hughes, who led our baseball program for four decades, and his longtime assistant, “Mr. Ed” Finlayson.
Together, these two men worked side by side, shaping generations of students through their dedication to the game and their service to the Lord. They established not only a successful baseball program but also a source of pride for our school community.
The addition of Coach Hughes’s name to the field is a heartfelt tribute to both men, honoring their legacy of service to Aucilla Christian Academy and its baseball program. We are humbled to celebrate their faithful and dedicated contributions to our school ministry.
May Hughes/Finlayson Field continue to be a place where young athletes grow, not just as players, but as men of character, reflecting the light of Christ in all they do.
