Lady Warrior to Pitch for #1 Team in Nation
Elizabeth Hightower, a sophomore at Aucilla Christian Academy and pitcher for the Lady Warriors, has verbally committed to play softball for the University of Florida and become a Lady Gator. Before committing to the reigning national champions in NCAA Division I softball, Elizabeth went on an unofficial visit of the UF campus and softball facilities. She later returned to campus to spend time with the University of Florida softball coaching staff, the Gator softball team, along with other UF softball recruits, and to attend a football game.
After much thought and prayer, Elizabeth made the recent commitment saying, "I can't wait to see how God uses me on and off the field.”
Hightower’s parents, James and Gretna Hightower of Monticello, are proud of their daughter and know the academic opportunities offered at UF played a huge part into where she ultimately chose to attend college in order to pursue degrees in biology and marine biology.
“Elizabeth is a very talented athlete and has the work ethic and determination to do great things for Florida’s softball program,” said ACA Softball Coach Becky Lauth. “I am extremely proud of her and her accomplishments.”
Hightower is the third Lady Warrior softball player this year to receive a verbal offer to play NCAA Divison I softball. She also received an offer to play for Michigan, the 2015 NCAA Division I runner-up in softball.
