Published:  June 13, 2016

Aucilla Christian Academy has been selected as the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Cary McDonald Award winner for the “Athletic Program of the Year” in Class 2A Private School for the 2015-2016 school year.

“A lot of hard work and dedication, by you, the athletes and the coaches have made this award possible,” stated FACA Executive Director Shelton Crews in a letter to ACA Athletic Director Kevin Smith. “Years ago we named this award after our second Executive Director, Cary McDonald. Each year we recognize the top athletic programs in each classification with this award. There are two criteria that we use in selecting the winner: Whole School Membership and your athletic program’s finish in the FHSAA Floyd E. Lay Sunshine Cup All Sports Award.”

Additional winners included: (8A) Winter Park, (7A) St. Thomas Aquinas, (6A) Ft. Myers, (5A) Plantation-American Heritage, (4A Private) The Bolles School, (4A Public) Coral Springs Charter, (3A Private) Maclay, (3A/2A Public) PK Yonge, and (1A) Lafayette.

“Our students, coaches, faculty, administrators, staff, families, and school community work diligently to assist in providing the very best for our school,” said Smith. “It’s an honor to be recognized by FACA.”

ACA’s award plaque will be presented by the FACA this fall.
