ACA Star Player Kelly Horne Signs with Troy University
Aucilla Christian Academy standout softball player Kelly Horne officially signed a letter of intent to play for Troy University today. As a sophomore, she committed to TU early. Horne has played varsity softball at ACA since she was in the sixth grade. Now a senior, Horne is headed into her final season at ACA as a utility player, where she was a key leader in the Lady Warriors winning a second consecutive state championship.
“Words cannot express how proud I am of Kelly for all of her accomplishments both on and off of the field,” said Coach Becky Lauth. “I am excited to watch her fulfill her dream of playing college softball at Troy. I know she will continue to accomplish great things!
Horne, the daughter of Kevin and Nicole Horne of Tallahassee, was named first team all-state in 2014-2016 and was named to the All-Big Bend first team for five consecutive years. She was also named offensive MVP as a junior and most recently the Wendy's High School Heisman school winner as well as the Florida Athletic Coaches Association 2A Player of the Year.
"Kelly Horne is a great softball player, a great student, a great person, and, most importantly, a great servant of Jesus Christ," said Principal Richard Finlayson. "I am proud of what she has accomplished and am certain that she will continue to use her God-given abilities to impact the world in a positive way."
